Rick Lyon (born February 25, 1958) is a professional puppeteer and puppet designer and builder. As a puppeteer, Rick performed on Sesame Street for 15 seasons, and he was an animatronic puppeteer for two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, Men In Black, and The Neverending Story III. Rick is probably best known for creating all the puppets for the Tony-award winning musical Avenue Q. Rick also appeared as a performer in the original Broadway cast of Avenue Q, where he played Nicky, Trekkie Monster, and one of the Bad Idea Bears. Rick won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Puppet Design for the Avenue Q National tour in 2007. Rick supplied the puppets for the original off-Broadway production of Avenue Q at the Vineyard Theatre, for Broadway, the London production produced by Cameron Mackintosh, Las Vegas, the U.S. National Tour, and several foreign productions, including Mexico, Brazil, and Australia.
